1. Annual payment timeline overview

The annual fixed fees you have to pay in Taiwan are more than you think. The following is organized by month, allowing you to grasp the payment rhythm throughout the year at a glance.

2. May: Comprehensive income tax

Tax expense is the largest expense every year. The filing period is 5/1 - 5/31 (extension in case of holidays).

Tip

4. March-April: Use license tax

If you have a car or a motorcycle, you have to pay. Calculated based on displacement, payment deadline is 4/30.

  • Electric vehicles are currently exempt from license tax (the discount is available until the end of 2025 and may be extended)

5. July: Fuel usage fees for automobiles and motorcycles

Note: The fuel fee is not a tax, but a fee levied by the Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport. Payment deadline 7/31.

6. November: Land value tax

7. Fixed monthly: labor insurance + health insurance

It is automatically deducted from your salary every month, so you don’t need to pay it yourself. However, rates may be adjusted annually.
